Kenya welcomed Eldoret to the Fast-Track Cities Initiative, alongside Nairobi City, who joined during inception on World AIDS Day in December 2014. The Governor of Eldoret signed the Paris Declaration during the annual Devolution Conference on 24 November 2021. They pledged to lead their cities to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. As a pioneer, Nairobi City graced the occasion and provided peer support towards this end.
